Tenterden Schools Trust is a multi-academy trust in mid-Kent that consists of a large secondary school, five primary schools and two nursery settings.
TST is looking for new Trustees whose skills and experience will benefit over 2200 students within our schools.
The Trust Board provides robust accountability, assurance and oversight of educational and financial performance and it is ambitious for all the students within our schools.
We are looking for candidates with a range of leadership experience, especially in people management, HR, marketing, health and safety and finance. You will also bring enthusiasm, curiosity and objectivity to the role in a drive to improve our organisation. You may be operating at Director level already and will be willing to abide by the Nolan principles of public life to provide strategic direction for our schools.

This is an unpaid voluntary role and you would be expected to attend a minimum of 4 Board meetings a year and to be part of one of our committees: Quality of Education (you could be a senior leader within a MAT), Financial Management, Audit and Risk Committee (finance - accountant or similar - or estate management background) and People, Pay and Culture (people management, HR background). We also welcome someone who can support the Christian ethos of our Church schools.

Become a Member of Tenterden Schools Trust – Diocese of Canterbury Appointment
Tenterden Schools Trust (TST) is a multi-academy trust in mid-Kent, comprising a large secondary school, five primary schools, and two nursery settings. We are dedicated to providing an exceptional educational experience for over 2200 students across our schools.
As we continue to grow and strengthen our governance, TST is seeking a dedicated and insightful Member, specifically for a Diocese of Canterbury appointment. This pivotal voluntary role ensures the Trust's charitable objectives are upheld, its vision is realised, and its Christian values are faithfully maintained across all our settings, particularly our Church schools.
The Role of a Member
Members act as the "guardians" of the Trust, holding the Board of Trustees to account for the effective governance and strategic direction of TST. Key responsibilities include:

Upholding the Trust's ethos and values, with a particular focus on the distinctive Christian character of our Church schools within the Diocese of Canterbury.

Appointing and removing Trustees, ensuring the Board has the right balance of skills and experience.

Approving significant changes to the Trust's Articles of Association.

Ensuring the Trust remains true to its founding principles and charitable purpose.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking an individual with a strong commitment to education and a deep alignment with Christian values, as well as:

Leadership Experience: A background in strategic leadership, governance, or oversight, ideally at a senior level.

Church Values: A demonstrable understanding of and commitment to the Christian ethos, and a willingness to actively support its integration within our Church schools and the wider Trust. This appointment is made in conjunction with the Diocese of Canterbury.

Strategic Vision: The ability to provide high-level oversight and contribute to the long-term strategic direction of the Trust.

Integrity: A commitment to upholding the Nolan principles of public life (Selflessness, Integrity, Objectivity, Accountability, Openness, Honesty, and Leadership).

Qualities: Enthusiasm, curiosity, and objectivity, with a drive to continuously improve our organisation.
Commitment
This is an unpaid, voluntary role. Members are expected to attend a minimum of 2-3 meetings per year, providing essential oversight and support to the Trust.
